Sigma 135mm T2 Fully Luminous FF High Speed Prime Lens (Canon EF Mount)
Cinema Lens Care and Maintenance
The Sigma 135mm T2 Fully Luminous FF High Speed Prime Lens is part of Sigma's High Speed Prime lens family, featuring acclaimed optical designs from their Global Vision lens initiative. The installed Canon EF mount ensures compatibility with a wide array of cinema cameras and DSLRs. Electronic contacts in the mount provide lens data communication between the lens and the camera. What sets these lenses apart from the standard Sigma High Speed Primes is fully luminescent markings. When shooting in dim or dark environments, focus pullers and camera operators will be able to easily discern lens markings without resorting to distracting lamps or other disruptive light sources.
This 135mm lens shares the same physical diameter to the other lenses in the set while maintaining identical focus and iris gear positioning with the entire lens set, relative to the mount. The included support foot also attaches in the same spot on all lenses, so you won't have to move your lens support after changing lenses. All High Speed Prime lenses also share the same 95mm front diameter. Similar physical attributes across the lens line makes fitting lens accessories such as matte boxes, follow focuses, lens supports, and lens control motors easier and less time consuming. For mounting filters without a matte box, this lens also features an 82mm filter thread to accept readily available screw-on filters.
Note: The mounts on these lenses are not interchangeable by the end-user. Should you want to natively mount these lenses to a camera with a different mount, a new mount installation can be done by Sigma for a fee.
Lens Design and Testing
Introduced with the Global Vision initiative, Sigma's A1 MTF testing, using a 46 megapixel Foveon sensor, analyzes each lens before it leaves the factory, ensuring that the lens performs as intended and provides sharp images on high-resolution sensors. Advanced computer-aided design of these lenses enables Sigma to minimize flare and ghosting even before manufacturing. All these steps bring improved quality and consistency to Sigma's manufacturing.
Though many lenses that prioritize sharpness sacrifice the appearance of out-of-focus elements, Sigma's High Speed Prime lenses are designed to not compromise on bokeh, rendering sharp in-focus images and soft bokeh. Additionally, all Sigma High Speed Prime lenses are color matched. With color-matched lenses, shots taken with different lenses can utilize the same color correction, saving time in post-production.
For durability, the outer shell of the lens is manufactured from lightweight yet durable metal. The tightly sealed exterior resists both water and dust ingress, similar to Sigma's Sports lens line. The focus and iris rings both feature silent end-stops using resin-dampening. The end of the focus travel will have a solid feel, yet won't disrupt quiet scenes. Cine-style push-on lens caps are included to protect the front element when the lens is not in use.
