New Product Announcement- Shoot in 8k with the next Canon Camera
Exciting news from Canon. Plans are underway for 8K capable EOS R camera release
It has been confirmed by Canon, that a camera which is capable of shooting 8K will be released. This will be included in their EOS R series which is their line of full frame, mirrorless cameras.
This is exciting news and shows that Canon is moving forward with their technology faster than previous new models.
Canon were relatively late to the 4K genre as they only released 4K capable cameras in the 5D Mark IV and 1DX Mark II during 2016 along with their first release of a 4K capable mirrorless camera during 2018 which was the EOS M50. The first EOS R does shoot 4K and had a similar 1.7 crop factor in the 5D Mark IV and EOS M50 when they were launched.
This puts Canon very comfortably in the middle of the mirrorless camera range. They are directly competing with the Sony A7III and Nikon Z6 cameras. Canon have announced further plans for new models above and below the mid-range price bracket keeping them in line with their competitors.
Canon quoted “we are developing multiple EOS R cameras now, but due to varying levels of preferred features we are likely to launch an amateur model next to let a large group of customers step up and enjoy full-frame image quality. Have no doubt that a professional model is coming, but perhaps it may not be the next model we introduce.”
So consumers can expect to see more models in the EOS R range and can look forward to possibly an entry level variant followed by a professional one.
